About Us
Today, more than ever, the governance of corporations, Crown agencies, and non-profit organizations is of critical concern to Canadians. Research is a vital step in ensuring that new knowledge on governance is created and evidence-based recommendations are put into effective practice. The Institute of Corporate Directors established the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research to serve as a catalyst for new ideas by providing the funds necessary to enable leading research on governance issues, to enhance Canada's governance research capacity, and to ensure effective dissemination of that knowledge. The CFGR focuses its efforts primarily on the administration of the Bertram Scholarships. The Bertram Scholarships build Canada’s corporate research capacity by supporting the next generation of young scholars who are studying governance issues.
